Multi-talented Anthony De Longis masters careers as an actor, fight director and sword master, professional weapons trainer, horseman and writer. De Longis uses his unique blend of skills to enhance the actor's ability to tell a story and create a more visceral experience for the audience.
De Longis is well known for creating the role of Kazon leader First Maje Culluh for STAR TREK: VOYAGER, appearing in five of the series' episodes. He has guest-starred on THE OUTER LIMITS, QUEEN OF SWORDS, THE ADVENTURES OF SHIRLEY HOLMES, THE ADVENTURES OF SINBAD, CONAN, THE ADVENTURER, BABYLON 5, and HIGHLANDER: THE SERIES twice. He's also appeared in the popular movies ROAD HOUSE, MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE, and SWORD AND THE SORCERER.
Off-camera, De Longis has occupied the staff position of Fight Director for the Los Angeles Music Center Opera since 1985. He was Swordmaster / Stunt Coordinator for episodes 1-6 of THE QUEEN OF SWORDS. He is also a professional stage movement and combat instructor, teaching in academic, small group and private settings. De Longis is dedicated to getting the best action possible from his performers.
His combined abilities as an actor, swordsman and bladed weapons scholar helped create one of the most popular and talked-about episodes of HIGHLANDER:
"I loved 'Duende'. 'Duende' was a flamenco, a dance that tells a story about betrayal, passion and vengeance. I thought the fight between Anthony De Longis and Adrian was wonderful. And, basically, 'Duende' happened because Anthony came in with that style of fighting and said, 'Can we do something regarding this?' And I said 'Absolutely.' " (David Abramowitz, headwriter, HIGHLANDER: THE SERIES)
Based in Los Angeles and Vancouver, De Longis is the whip expert who taught Michelle Pfeiffer how to swing a gracefully exact bullwhip in BATMAN RETURNS. He also coached Angelica Huston in BUFFALO GIRLS and Ellen Barkin in WILD BILL (In fact, Barkin felt confident enough to use a bullwhip to cut a cigar held by David Letterman on LATE NIGHT WITH DAVID LETTERMAN!).
De Longis' expertise with a bullwhip complements his experience as a martial artist and stage-fight choreographer in such movies as ROADHOUSE, EXPECT NO MERCY, FAR AND AWAY, CYBERTRACKER II, CHEROKEE KID, WILD BILL, CIRCLE OF IRON, JAGUAR LIVES and MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE, and the Los Angeles Music Center Opera productions of DON GIOVANNI, IL TROVATORE, OTELLO, and CARMEN.
Anthony's talents as both an actor and martial arts expert and choreographer have been hailed by many:
"Anthony De Longis is impressive in his command of the martial arts techniques, which he executes with dance-like beauty and precision." (Hollywood Reporter)
"The famous duel in rhyme is as thrilling as it was written to be, Richard Chamberlain skewering fight choreographer Anthony De Longis with a style that surely had Douglas Fairbanks smiling down from movie heaven." (Los Angeles Times)
"Anthony De Longis portrays Iago as a soft-spoken viper, enraged that he has been passed over for promotion in Othello's regiment." (LA Weekly)
"Anthony De Longis did the fight choreography, enough said." (Dramalogue)
Articles about De Longis and his work have been featured in numerous magazines. STAR TREK VOYAGER appearances as Maje Culluh have appeared in Star Trek Communicator, Starlog: Star Trek Voyager, 18 (Sept., 1998) and Mania Magazine. These include articles on the Spanish style of fencing known as the Mysterious Circle, published in Fight Master Magazine (Fall/Winter 1999) and Inside Karate (July 1998), and one of the bullwhip in Inside Karate (August 1992). An additional article on the Mysterious Circle is soon to be published in the uncoming issue of Martial Arts Insider.

As Anthony explains, "I am a storyteller. I have studied a lot of different arts because the more options you have, the more ability you have to make something magic. You can only wing it, if you have the skills to fly."
De Longis carries U.S. Citizenship and Canadian Permanent Resident Status. He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences,Screen Actors Guild, Actors Equity Association, American Federation of Television and Radio Actors, Academy of Canadian Television and Radio Actors, Union of British Columbia Performers, Society of Canadian Fight Directors and an honorary member of the Society of American Fight Directors.
